Abacus’ Managing Director is an experienced senior Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyor with more than 20 years’ expertise in the rail sector.

Gary has extensive experience of signalling and other engineering projects, including track renewal works and civils. He has delivered a huge number of major infrastructure projects, including commercial management for the Four Tracking rail project at Lichfield Trent Valley which was a critical milestone on the West Coast Route modernisation scheme.

He also led the project commercial team for the major railway scheme in the Bristol area (including signalling , design and associated construction works , E&P , telecoms and civils) for Alstom.

Gary has delivered a huge number of major infrastructure projects. And has extensive experience of managing project teams for principle contractors and also on behalf of client organisations.

He also acted as the Programme Commercial Manager for the Signalling Solutions framework contract on Crossrail West signalling. He has extensive experience of managing project teams for principle contractors and also on behalf of client organisations such as Network Rail.

He has managed large teams of project commercial managers, quantity surveyors and project controls resources on behalf of Clients such as Network Rail; Balfour Beatty Rail and Signalling Solutions Ltd. He works closely with Alstom’s senior management and Directors to formulate the best commercial outcome on its major signaling projects. He sits on a number of managerial and steering committees.
